I **HEART** Ottobre!!!!

Okay I just had to declare my love for Ottobre (yes again!)!!! I know you all know how much I love Ottobre, but I love it even more now (is that even possible????). I've been hard at work sewing school clothes (in between my motherly duties that is - no child neglect is happening believe me! :-)) and made the *perfect* fitting pants for my string bean daughter. I could hardly believe it when I had her try them on. I had the waist all ready for the adjustable elastic and didn't even need it - miracles happen every day. So now I'm on to the second pair. I have them ready for assembly after embroidering some flowers on them today. And as soon as my new camera arrives tomorrow I'll be able to share all I've been working on.

After doing a little research on ConsumerReports, I found what seems to be a good camera to replace my old one. It's a Cannon PowerShot A630 and was rated a CR best buy. And as luck would have it, Office Max has it on sale this week for $189.99 so I ordered one today and it should be here tomorrow - yippee!

Melissa, I LOVE Ottobre too, both for me and my kids. Isn't the fit just the BEST, not to mention the styles and RTW details. My Ottobres have been getting a huge workout too. And the new Ottobre Woman is out too! Woohooooo!

I haven't gotten a new Ottobre yet in U.S. -- only the 2/2007 copy I chose when I subscribed not too long after one of Melissa's rave reviews. Everyone else have one already?

The newest women's issue is due to be published on Sept 3rd and you can see the preview up on the Ottobre website. I assume that is what you're referring to since the 2/07 copy is also the women's issue as well. The new one looks like another good one to me, can't wait to get it in my hot little hands! :-)

I certainly hope that I will get results similar to yours, Melissa. Thanks for the info. I'll watch the mail!

Oh gosh, you're so kind, but honestly it has just been practice, practice, practice that has yield the good results. I learned to sew in the 4th grade thanks to my Grandma May. In middle school I also took a home-ec class that helped a little more with sewing and continued to tinker with my mom's sewing machine too. It really wasn't until my first married Christmas that I actually got really into sewing (my mom-in-law bought me a used Singer that was almost identical to my mom's machine so it was perfect for me). At first I didn't have the best results, so I tucked my sewing machine away out of frusteration, but brought it out again for good determined to get better results. I've come a long way, but lots has been trial and error and just learning along the way. For me, the biggest turning point in my sewing was finding PatternReview.com ~ I feel like that has really help me excel in my techniques and become more confident in my sewing. So keep practicing and it will come before you know it! :-)
